...Yes, we are! We have started learning a few new Folk Dances for our annual Harvest Hoedown, which is coming up very quickly! The Third and Fourth graders have been working on "Alabama Gal" and the First and Second Graders are learning "Sneaky Snake" and "Irish Stew" (which is danced to the tune "Rakes of Mallow." Everyone is looking pretty polished after only one week of practicing.

We'll be dancing and singing on October 31st with all of the other specialist teachers in the gymnasium. A big yee-haw goes out to Mrs. Smith for making it all possible. Pictures to come!!

Happy Fall, Y'all!

The October musical activities have begun! We are working hard on songs for our October Half School Meetings. Everyone will be singing "You're A Grand Old Flag" as our Patriotic song at the beginning of each assembly. The 1st and 2nd graders will then be singing "Golden Rule" and the 3rd and 4th graders will be singing "Reach Out" to connect with their classroom learning this month.

We have already been singing some of our favorite fall songs, and coming up next week...we'll be learning a brand new folk dance! Grades 1 and 2 will be learning a circle dance and grades 3 and 4 will be learning "Alabama Gal!" We'll be dancing these at our school wide Harvest Hoedown on October 31st.

There are just a few more 4th grade recorder slips to be collected and then we can order the recorders! If you haven't brought your slip to the music room, please try to do so by the end of this week, so we can order the recorders SOON!

4th Grade Chorus Concerts are coming up soon! We are getting excited! Please check the "Fourth Grade Chorus Concert Dates" link to see when your student's concert will be. (You can find it in the "Pages" section, to the right of this post.)

Have a great long weekend!
